REVIEW: ZOMBIE JOE'S URBAN DEATH
If you want one of the strangest and darkest Halloween attractions in town, then Zombie Joe’s Urban Death is it. I guarantee you will not experience another haunt which opens with a masturbating clown and ends with a woman dressed as a giggling little girl defecating on a counter. Knowing these two things won’t even spoil the show because there are so many experiences packed into this event.
Zombie Joe’s Urban Death is vignette after vignette of truly disturbing imagery involving sex, violence and horror. Throughout, feelings of dread and fear are balanced with humorous elements, which offer relief from journeying down the dark paths of the human mind.
As it has been for the past five years, you enter and exit through a maze with a live show in between. The actors are genuinely strange and the live show is authentic. It’s often difficult to convey dark humor as it can easily come across as either feeling juvenile, mindlessly violent, or echoing bro culture. Zombie Joe’s Urban Death gets it right and blows away places like 17th Door, which are totally off the mark with their shock factor.
If you want to feel the darkness this Halloween, then this is the show for you.
