review: castle dark

Riverside’s Castle Park is a trip back to the classic era of roadside entertainment. Opening in 1976, this medieval theme park has been seen by almost anyone driving along the 91. The park’s amenities include classic carnival rides, a vintage 1980s arcade, and mini golf. For years now during the Halloween season they have been transforming into “Castle Dark” on the weekends. Visitors can experience pop-up mazes and journey through foggy walkways inhabited by spooky characters.

We often get asked where young children or easily scared adults should go for Halloween entertainment. Our answer is to send them to Castle Dark to enjoy an experience that is still fun but not as scary as other haunts. In addition to their three haunted houses, you can enjoy rides like the fantastical rollercoaster “Merlin's Revenge” and take a journey through the park on the Castle Park Railroad train. You can round out the night by playing mini golf on one of their four, 18-hole courses that are illuminated by 4,700 lights.

Castle Dark is the perfect night out for family-friendly scares and entertainment.
