review: delusion: valley of hollows

Since 2011 Jon Braver and his interactive play, Delusion, have been breaking ground in the world of interactive theater. This performance mixes elements of theater, the problem solving of escape rooms, the stunts of blockbuster films, and the horrific suspense of a haunted house - offering a truly singular experience that is unlike anything else. By creating a somewhat untouchable niche for his work, Braver’s hands-on obsession with detail has made Delusion entirely unique and unreplicable - though there have been many attempts to do so by imitators.

Throughout the past decade, we have attended every iteration of Delusion and every single year it has retained its high level of quality. For over eleven years and eight shows, Braver and company have presented a relentless experience built on limitless imagination and industriousness. 2022’s “Valley of Hollows” - which takes place inside of a massive, dilapidated 1800’s Pomona mansion - offers a one hour journey that is somewhat hard to describe. Per the expected pacing, once the show begins you immediately hit the ground running, enjoying an adrenaline infused adventure that includes incredible monsters, unbelievable sets, top tier actors, and many other marvelous encounters.

The VIP experience this year is really enjoyable and includes going to the upstairs area of the Phillips Estate to visit the bar, see a magician perform, and crawl through an eerie, blacked out mini maze filled with whispering voices. Like everything else at Delusion, this VIP area has a particularly magical feel and is the perfect introduction for the night ahead of you.

Ever since Delusion’s beginnings we have witnessed Braver and his crew constantly working around the clock in order to create the perfect experience. Braver is always on site, ensuring that visitors have the best experience and leave fully satisfied. Delusion’s “Valley of Hollows” is one of the best nights of entertainment in Los Angeles, making it a mandatory visit for anyone who wants a truly remarkable and immersive cinematic experience.
