review: haunted harvest haunt

In 2021 two great Southern California haunts - The Fleshyard and Perdition Home Haunt - joined forces to take over Frosty’s Forest Pumpkin Patch in Chino. Both haunts are known for their history of creating unsettling mazes that constantly evolve and rarely repeat previous incarnations. The collaborative result of 2021’s Dark Harvest was a high point for both haunts - showcasing some of their best work yet within the complementary setting of an outdoor, multi-acre cornfield. We adored 2021’s collaboration, but things are very different this year. The Fleshyard team has moved Dark Harvest down to Anaheim (joining forces with a HoLA favorite, The Pirate’s Cave), while Perdition is remaining at Frosty’s as the “Haunted Harvest”.

Historically, Perdition has done most of their work as a home haunt and our yearly visits were always highly anticipated as we looked forward to experiencing new themes, props, and sets. Because each year was so unique, the downside was that we were never able to experience the same haunt again. Thankfully, because of the larger space of Haunted Harvest, Perdition has been able to bring back some of their greatest hits combined with amazing new haunts.

Included in the revival of their haunts from years past is their classic serial killer themed maze from 2018, along with one of our all-time favorites, “Necro Space” (2015). This sci-fi horror thriller takes you through a wrecked spaceship where you come face to face with horrifying monsters.

Haunted Harvest’s mini mazes are dispersed throughout the moonlit cornfield where, within the trails, you run into groups of shadowy characters. At times when you are walking along the trails it gets so quiet that you can hear the wind blowing amongst the stalks - which enhances the suspense as you try to listen for footsteps behind you.

Haunted Harvest is packed with the incredible characters and gorey sets that we have come to expect from Perdition. The setting within the cornfield of Frosty’s makes it a great visit for those wanting to experience a unique, DIY haunt experience.
