During all of our years traveling to mazes all over the LA area, we had yet to visit Moreno Valley's legendary Haydenville Haunter because its location never quite fit into our schedule. However this season we were finally able to visit, and it was completely worth it.

The theme of this year's maze was one we'd never seen before in a haunt: the Paris Catacombs. The journey begins in a museum as a tour guide tells you the history of the mass graves that exist below the city. With him you then enter an elevator which brings you deep below the city of Paris. As the catacombs reveal themselves you begin to see dozens of skeletons tucked away in the cave crevices as your guide begins to tell you tales of the place being haunted. The lights then begin to suspensefully flicker until they all go out. They quicky turn back on, revealing that the tour guide has now mysteriously disappeared, replaced by a monstrous, ghostly figure. As you plot your escape through the caves you run into other spectral inhabitants around every turn, eventually making it to safety at the exit.

The recreation of the Paris Catacombs was such an unexpected and wonderful theme to see brought to life in a haunt. Walking through these historic mass graves in a home’s yard was an incredible experience. The Haydenville Haunter served up a terrifying and unique adventure, making it a very memorable visit for the season.
