REVIEW: the haunted harvest

There is nothing better than watching a home haunt outgrow itself into a completely unique and amazing event.. For example, Reign of Terror began as a home haunt which then grew exponentially within the sprawling space of a mini mall in Thousand Oaks - getting bigger and better with every season. We now have another expanded haunt to add to this list - the wonderful haunted cornfield maze experience, The Haunted Harvest.

Located in Chino Hills, The Haunted Harvest, which was birthed from one of our favorite home haunts, Perdition, has been taking over a two-acre corn maze within Frosty's Forest and Pumpkin Patch every Halloween season. The trails, which curve between the six haunted house attractions, are intense and filled with frights. Each dark turn through the cornfield is inhabited by characters referencing the themes of the mazes that lie within. These mazes are filled with both original and retro characters - such as an arcade (reminiscent of the ShowBiz Pizza chain) where animatronics have become monsters or the newly themed disco inferno, “Stayin Alive”, that is an entertainingly demonic story of a discoteque filled with dancing characters with cartoonishly ripped up faces. They even have one of the best queue’s ever - a throwback to Blockbuster Video rental store called “Hauntbuster” - where retro horror film posters and signs decorate as far as the eye can see. For those who have attended Midsummer Scream’s “Hall of Shadows” you are likely familiar with this “store” which has become a beloved photo opportunity during the convention.

The Haunted Harvest is truly a wonderful seasonal night out and we encourage all haunters and lovers of horror to make the trek out to enjoy it. The hard work and creativity that The Haunted Harvest team continues to pour into this attraction deserves a tip of the hat and we always look forward to the scares that they continue to bring year after year.
